Leak In The Waterfall

You gaze out in the yard and smile.  That outdoor pondless waterfall was a great investment.  Neighbors have commented over how nice it looks, and you enjoy the view of the tiny cascade that requires so little upkeep.  What happens, however when you notice that the water level in your pondless pond is rapidly disappearing? You may have a leak in the waterfall.

A leak in the waterfall can be something relatively simple.  First, you need to evaluate and make sure you think you have a leak in the waterfall and the water loss is not due to loss from evaporation.  If you used a vinyl liner and never cemented the rocks around the pond or the waterfall itself, your first thought may be that you have a leak in the waterfall.   This would be the logical assumption… either that or possibly you have a hole in the vinyl. 

If you find out that you do have a hole in your vinyl instead of an actual leak in the waterfall, you may be able to purchase a repair piece of liner or actually purchase repair patches.  To fix this type of leak in the waterfall, you can actually attach the repair liner with self-adhesive tape on one side.  Fixing your leak in the waterfall is often an easy as peeling the back off the liner, firmly attaching it on your whole, and your leak in the waterfall is fixed in one simple, easy, and cheap step. 

If you haven’t yet purchased your pondless pond and waterfall kit, it’s important to remember that proper installation can help you avoid a leak in the waterfall.  Although the kits contain everything you need for assembly along with detailed instructions, it’s important that you don’t rush through the process.  You want to take your time as you put your waterfall together, making sure the vinyl, rocks, and pump are properly assembled.  This can help you avoid encountering a leak in the waterfall.
