We Are Buying A Property Near A Man Made Pond, During The Inspections, Should We Check For Seepage?

I mean seepage in the foundation? Is there anything else we need to be concerned about? The pond looks around 0. 5 acre wide. Its maintained by the HOA, but Im thinking that it could cause some water damage and we should inspect for it? The house is is around 100ft away from the property, and there are other houses between the house and the pond.

Whether or not there is a pond nearby, always check for any indication of seepage in and around a foundation. Don’t forget to check on the average rainfall in your area. Talk to neighbors about the rainfall and if they ever had any problems with flooding. Find out the elevation of the house property in relation to the pond. If the pond overflows, will it come toward your property or away from it?

If the top surface of the water in the pond is higher than your basement floor, then yes, you need to worry about groundwater. Is the pond a stormwater retention pond? Or is it just for looks? Is it aerated? If not, and the water is just stagnant, what about mosquitos? Do they treat the water for mosquitos?
